Remuera had 2 players at the Women's Match Play Championships at Mt Maunganui last week - Lita Guo and Jan Manoonpong.  Both players had a very successful tournament qualifying for the Match Play rounds which started on Friday.  Lita finished T8 (79-77) 156, while Jan qualifyied in T28 (83-82) 165.

 

Both Lita and Jan won their first round matches on Friday - Lita 1up over Angela Jones, while Jan had a very comfortable win over Brittney Dryland 6/5.  They continued this good form to both reach the quarter-finals to be played Saturday morning - Lita defeating Tyla King 1up; Jan another more comfortable victory over Grace Senior by 4/3.

 

The quarter finals were played on Saturday morning- Jan defeated by the eventual runnerup, Wenyung Keh, 1 down.  Lita however overcame Julianne Alvarez, the top qualifier by 3/2 to progress to the Semi finals where she met Wenyung Keh.  Wenyung proved to be too steady defeating Lita by 4/3 to move to the final to play her older sister Mun Chin in the final.
