The first round of match play was played on Saturday. The early morning provided good conditions but the weather deteriorated as it went on and some matches were completed in heavy rain.
Eric Jorgensen played his match earlier in the week and he defeated Jackson McDougall 5/4 to progress to the next round where he will play Andrew Meng. Andrew defeated Will du Toit 3/2.
Mathew Weir and Nick Matijasevich played their match on Sunday morning with Mathew recording the expected win by 7/6. He will meet Manaaki McColl in the next round.
Chris de Bruyn had the closest of matches with it going to 20th hole against Kelvin Chiu. Chris established an early lead but Kelvin fought back well, winning the 18th to take it into extra holes. Chris will play Andy Black in the quarter-finals who had a more comfortable victory over Ethan Sangster.
The final matches saw a comfortable win for Rakesh Patel over Alex Song, although Rakesh was impressed with Alex's play and we will be watching as his game develops as he gets older. Jason Wei had a tight match against Maxi Ofner before final winning with a hole to spare.
