The semi-finals were played on Saturday morning and as expected these matches were very close throughout the 18 holes.

Mathew Weir after going down early took a +1 lead into the back nine over Chris de Bruyn.  Rakesh Patel and Andrew Meng traded only one win each to get to the halfway mark all square.    Mathew retained his slender advantage throughout the back nine to close the match out with a 2up win at the final hole.  Rakesh managed to get in front on the back nine and finally won 2/1.

Mathew and Rakesh will meet in a 36-hole final this Saturday.  It will be a repeat of the Open Grade Semi-final when these 2 met back in February.  For the record Rakesh won that match but that will have no bearing on this encounter.

Congratulations to the semi-finalists, the matches produced some golf of a very high quality.
