The 36-hole final of the Captains Prize was played on Saturday between Alex Bagley & Lyall Brown. Alex's task was going to be formidable as he was giving Lyall 19 shots! However he started well by winning the first hole and getting to 2up by the 5th. Unfortunately that was all that Lyall was going to allow him, by the end of the front nine it was back to all square.
They traded holes throughout the back nine in the morning with Lyall securing a 1up lead by winning the 18th. The break came on the front nine in the afternoon!
Lyall won the 1st, 2nd, 4th (with a great chip-in) and 6th - he was now 5up and this sequence proved the winning of the match. Alex fought hard and pegged a couple back but Lyall secured the win on the 14th green to win 5/4.
The match was played in a great spirit and both played some really good golf. Congratulations, Lyall and it probably won't be very long before Alex picks up his first trophy at the club.
