9 hole "scramble"

As mentioned in our last email we are aiming to hold monthly "fun" competitions. The first of these is to be held on Wed 22 Feb and will be a stableford competition i.e. The player with the highest stableford score wins. If you do not know how to score stableford, don't panic. The "machine" does it for you when you enter your results. However this is a great opportunity to try to master this scoring system. We will provide directions on how to score stableford, for those that require it, on the day. Make your tee booking in the usual way. We will have two prize sections - one for the front 9 and one for the back 9. Entry will cost $2, paid at the pro-shop when you collect your card. The entry pool will be divided up as prizes for the day.

Top Cat competition

This year the 9 hole ladies have their own Top Cat competition. This is a pairs competition played in 4BBB format i.e. You and your partner both play and your score for each hole is the best stableford out of the two of you. (Once again, instructions will be provided on the day to assist those new to this format).

The dates for the 5 rounds are Wednesday 8 March, 19 April, 17 May, 13 Sept, and 8 Nov. The winner is the pair with the best score over 3 rounds out of the 5. This gives some flexibility as not everyone can play every round.

There is a sign-up sheet on the 9-hole Ladies notice board in the Ladies locker room so please put your names down together with your partner. If you want to play, but do not have a partner, please put your name down and leave the partner column blank. We will do our best to pair you up with someone.

Open Days at other clubs

Throughout the year we will be invited to attend 9 hole Open Days at other clubs. This is a great opportunity to experience other courses and really helps to develop your game. The first of these is at Maungakiekie Golf Club on Monday 6 March for a 10am shotgun start. Entry fee is $25 which includes lunch and prizes. A copy of the invitation and entry form has been put on the notice board in the ladies locker room. Please add your name and details to the entry form if you are interested in playing and make your payment directly to Maungakiekie Club using the details provided on this form. Entries close Friday 4 March.

Tips/Etiquette

With the popularity of 9 hole golf growing rapidly we are experiencing increasing pressure on tee times. If you have signed up to play, but cannot make it, please cancel your booking at the earliest possible opportunity so that others do not miss out. If you decide on the morning that you do not want to play please cancel your booking in the system. It is also polite to text your playing partners to let them know so that they can check they have someone to play with and change their tee time if necessary.

Also, please note, that if you have missed out on a tee time on a day you want to play check the website the night before and the morning of the day. Gaps often appear.

Happy golfing,

Sabra, Nic and Sarah.
