Senior Pennants finished last Sunday and Youth Pennants began today.  This year we have entered 5 teams - 3 in Division 1 (off-the-stick) and 2 in Division 2 (Handicap).  Each team has 4 players and the Division 1 teams will be evenly balanced to ensure that our top players get a sequence of tough matches.

Division 1 was out at Whitford Park.  Spencer noted that we have had over 800mm of rain this year already, well Whitford Park have already topped 1200mm!  Remuera1 played Remuera2, while Remuera3 played Pakuranga.  With a number of our top players at the Tom Bonnington in Mangawhai it was a great opportunity to bring in some of the juniors who played Division 2 last year.

Remuera1 beat Remuera2 by 2.5-1.5.  Wins to Hugh Lee and Daniel Mar, plus the half for Erik Jorgensen was enough to get them the overall result.  Campbell Ayres had the only win for Remuera2.  Remuera3 had a tough day against a very strong Pakuranga team.  Karl Jorgensen couldn't do anything about his match losing 7/5 to Jay Michael Lindsay who was -5 when the match finished.  Kahu Tataurangi unfortunately had to withdraw sick on Saturday night, which left the Lansi boys working hard to get something from the tie.  Jaime Lansi finally lost 4/3 to Stephen Liu but for much of the match it was much closer.  Jose Lansi beat Yuma Yamada 2/1 after a really good battle - overall a 1-3 loss.

At Pukekohe we fielded a new team to Pennants against Pakuranga's team and they got a very creditable 2-2 draw.  Wins to Cody Mitchell and Harrison Bright got us the draw.  Mia Collins only lost on the final hole, while Chloe Lam was well beaten in her first match.

At Aviation we narrowly lost to Akarana 1.5-2.5.  Hannah Murchison's first game will be one to remember coming from behind to record a very good 3/2 win.  Eamon Wairepo (also in his first game) showed great resolve battling back to get a very solid half.  William Kelly and Jackson Pirihi both lost.

We now have a couple of weeks off and resume the competition on June 18th.
