9 hole Women - Update 27 June, 2017

The bad weather has continued to play havoc with the 9 hole Top Cat competition but, looked at
in a positive way, it has reduced the pressure on booking times! The 9 hole membership category
is continuing to prove popular and the waiting list grows each month. The club is investigating all
options to help relieve pressure on tee times.
Top Cat
As well has bad weather we had to contend with computer issues for the last round of this
competition on 14 June. The results of that days competition are below. If anyone played and
submitted a card BUT THEIR RESULTS ARE NOT LISTED please contact me so we can
investigate.
We have now completed two of the five rounds with the remaining rounds scheduled on
Wednesday 23 August, 13 Sept and 8 Nov. Remember only your best 3 of the 5 rounds count.

Mid-winter Ambrose Competition
On Weds 5 July we will hold an 9 hole Ambrose Competition. For those of you unfamiliar with this
format it is played in teams of 4. Each player hits off the tee, the best shot is selected and all other
players pick up their ball and place it, within one handspan, alongside the best ball. Each person
then hits a second shot from the same spot. The best shot is again selected. This continues until
the ball is in the hole. On the putting green the best ball is marked and the other balls are played
from this position. For clarity, details of the format will be handed out on the day.
All tees on the front 9 will be reserved for Ambroise so, if you do not want to play in this format,
please sign up on the back 9. To play Ambroise just put your name down, as usual, in the
designated tee times and your team will comprise of whoever signs up in the same time slot.
There will be a $2 entry fee for this competition which will be used for prize money for the winning
teams.
Result of Central Zone Triangular Tournament.
This season Remuera played in the Central District 9 hole Triangular. This consisted of a home
and away game against each of the two other clubs in the district, with teams of four playing
individual matches. We had eight “volunteers” in total and rotated them across the 4 matches.
While we had an overall points win for two out of our four games, the points differential was too
low to put us in contention. Despite coming last in our district it was a great learning curve for us.
Only two of the women had played match play format previously It now feels like Remuera
“belongs” in the Auckland 9 hole scene and we look forward to competing again next year. Be
ready to put your hand up when we call for interest early next year.
Final results:
Windross/Wattle Downs - 75 points
Waiuku/Clarks Beach - 74.5 points
Remuera - 66.5 points
