We still really do need your help!!

The team of volunteers, who turn up on a Monday morning to pick up golf balls on the driving range has suddenly diminished creating a short term man power shortage. In response to last week’s plead for help we were delighted to welcome Bryan Davies to the rigours of a 7.30am start! Bryan enjoyed himself so much he can’t wait for next Monday to come around!

So why don’t you also join the happy band of ball gatherers!

While this last week saw the course closed on and off there was sufficient drying to enable the ball gathering machine to operate by Saturday. Thus the work involved on the 17th was not as demanding as the previous week.

However based on the current forecast we are in for more rain over the next couple of weeks which could take us back to a more demanding work load.

A number of our regular attendees are still AWOL and as a consequence it would be much appreciated if a few members, who don’t mind an early start, could come and join our happy bunch of volunteers.

What do you need to do and how long will it take.

· Turn up at the shed at the car park end of the driving range stalls any time after 7am on Mondays. It isn’t as dark and cold as you might think!

· Approx. two hours from 7.30am until 9.30am – the earlier we start the sooner we are finished

· There is no commitment to come every week. If we get enough volunteers we can add to our roster which would be great.

What do you need to bring.

· Recommended you wear gardening clothes, gumboots or old golf shoes etc.

· If you have one, bring a light long handled garden fork or a long screwdriver to lift suckered balls.

· Gardening gloves.

· Ball recovery equipment is provided

What are the benefits?

· Convivial company – as one volunteer remarked recently “ Monday morning’s ball retrieving is more satisfying than playing golf in these conditions (after walking off after 9 holes) at least you get a sense of satisfaction for your hard work when it is finished!”

· Free morning tea

· Keeps you fit and able!

· Legitimate reason to get you out of the house and Monday morning chores!

· If you need more info please make contact with Jim Holmes or John Reeves.

We would much appreciate your assistance this coming Monday 24th of July.

Remember “Many hands make light work”

It would be great to see you at the driving range shed on the 24th!

From your welcoming committee!
