Course Update 27 March 2018

Drainage:

This week’s focus is completing top drainage (sand slitting) on Holes 1 and 4 with grass seeding to follow. During germination (approx. 3-4 weeks) specific areas will be marked as compulsory G.U.R. Providing the weather co-operates drainage to the front nine will be completed within a couple of weeks.

Irrigation:

Fortunately, there has not been little need for irrigation the last week as temperatures have cooled and rain has fallen. We have unfortunately had a burst pipe short and right of the 5th green which we are currently repairing. We have also had an electric cable fail under the 18th fairway which runs all the sprinklers on Holes 5, 6, 7 and 8. In the short term there is a temporary cable running above ground across the 18th fairway but as soon as we can we will be trenching that cable into the ground as we have done on other holes.

Paths:

As I am sure you have seen, much work has been put into the new paths at various places around the course. These new additions will help to get all golfers to get to crucial areas of the course with less time spent slopping through the mud in times of high rainfall.

Spraying

We are in the process of catching up with our spraying programme, this last week we have been able to get a good percentage of the weeds and boundary lines sprayed. Over the next two weeks, weather conditions permitting this will be complete.

As you can appreciate the number of spraying days are impacted by weather conditions – rain and wind particularly.
