LADIES GOLF

The annual Jubilee Strokeplay was completed last Thursday, with some very close scores and some outstanding results.

Congratulations to Kathy Gould on winning the 54-Hole Jubilee Strokeplay to add to her Club Championship win at the end of last year. She won by two shots from Julie Hawkes, who put in a great effort over the three rounds.

The Bronze Division was won by Margot Thompson, two shots ahead of Robyn Campbell. Amazing efforts by both ladies, given Margot had played only three rounds this year prior to entering the Jubilee, and Robyn – well, what can you say apart from “age is only a number” – truly inspiring.

The 65+ Gross Division was won by Judy Hart, with Gail Mackenzie the runner-up.

Full Results are posted in the Locker Room.

Hard luck story must go to a player who dipped into Silver for the first time in a year when the Jubilee Strokeplay commenced, returning to Bronze when it had finished. And yes, she would have won the Bronze division.

And WELL DONE Eva Huang who had her fourth hole-in-one on Sunday during her outstanding round of 68 (and that is gross!), ie equal to par.

CORONATION CUP RESULTS, played today:-

SILVER: Eva Huang (+2)

BRONZE 1: Mitsuko Wada (+1)

BRONZE 2: Catherine Wharfe (+3)

BRONZE 3: Glenda Potter (+2)

There were nine 2’s ($5.30 ea) – Tina Chai (x2), Julie Hawkes, Judy Skyrme, Joan Reeves, Julie Hawkes, Cilla Tsui, Susie Simcock and Villia Cheng

Reminders:-

· There seems to be confusion surrounding correct method to enter Tuesday competitions. To clarify, any Draws that are seeded (eg LGU competitions and qualifying rounds) will be ‘register through the RGC website’ and for other events, you simply book directly on to the DotGolf web-page. Bookings on DotGolf open the usual seven days in advance. One discrepancy to this is the upcoming Autumn Handicap, where partners are randomly drawn. Note this is a ‘matchplay’ event and you need to be available to play your matches in April and May (or June at the latest). For this event, there is an Entry Sheet in the Locker Room.

· The Draw for the Masters Match-play event is in the Locker Room – please get your matches underway while the weather is good!

· Looking ahead, after Easter there is a Stableford competition on Tuesday (3rd April) and the usual Scramble on Thursday. The following week the Course is CLOSED for coring.
