Drainage:

Drainage works are progressing at full steam again with the weather playing along and helping us nicely now.

This week:

-Complete the seeding of the newly sand slit (Top Drained) 4th Fairway
-Start and finish the sand slit on the 2nd Fairway

Outstanding works:
- a small area near the approach of the 5th green

All that remain then is for us to grow the grass back in on this area and within the coming weeks we will be back to having a normal golf course.

Just a last reminder to please not play any shots from the newly seeded areas please until they have grown back properly.

Paths:

As I am sure you have seen, much work has been put into the new paths at various places around the course. All the new path additions have now been poured with concrete and all that remains is to install the drainage near them and backfill the edges.

These new additions will help to get all golfers to get to crucial areas of the course with less time spent ‘slopping through the mud’ in times of high rainfall.

Coring (Renovations):

As is normally the case at this time of the year we have our coring planned to be done next week, 9 – 13 April 2018.

The course will be closed the entire week and weather permitting we plan to perform a fairly large size of coring to all the closely mown areas of the course. It is badly needed as we were not able to do a proper coring this past Spring or last Autumn due to the high rainfall.

This is an extremely important process and we will push hard to get as fast a recovery as possible. This video from the USGA should help to answer any questions about coring, it is well worth the time to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=863Ix8czcoY

Course Staff profile: Zdenique Fivaz

Each course update I would like to introduce a member of our awesome golf course maintenance team.

Zdenique (Zee) is 20 years old and was born in South Africa (another Japie) but has lived here in New Zealand for more than 11 years and is a passionate Kiwi. Zee is still quite new to golf course maintenance but is learning fast and we see a bright future for him. In his spare time, he loves to spend time on his two main passions which are music and cars. Every now and then he will entertain his team mates with his exceptional skills on a guitar after work. He is always ready to smile and help out and has become an important part of our team. We are thrilled to have a great young man like Zee on our team and hope you will support his efforts out on the golf course.
