After losing the final round robin match at Whitford Park against Royal Auckland/Grange a week ago, our Bissett Shield team needed to beat Akarana at Remuera on Sunday to make it through to the final at Titirangi.  We started in wet conditions after heavy early morning rain and after 9 holes it was too close to call - Thai Leng & Scott Robertson held leads but the other matches were all very close.  Thai and Scott consolidated their matches on the back 9 to finish early - Thai by 4/3 and Scott by 5/4.  However this was counter-balanced by the losses by Mathew Weir (4/3) and James Eng (3/2).  Cameron Harlock and Connor Barker both lost on their matches on 17th hole, while Rakesh Patel had a solid win (5/3).  This left Matthew Cormack on his own playing the 18th with a 1up lead - Nick Ming left his birdie putt short and Matty's win confirmed a 4-4 draw.

Each team selected one player for a play-off - Remuera, Matthew Cormack and Akarana, Sheldon Kearns.  The 1st hole would be played as many times as necessary to secure a result.  On the first occasion both players were just off the green for 2 and missed their birdie putts to send them back to the first tee again.  This time Matthew Cormack's birdie putt just lipped out while Sheldon Kearns went in to secure the passage to the final at Titirangi on Sunday.
