10th Tee Safety

A number of members have raised concerns about the safety of the 10th tee. This relates to golfers failing to check that the previous four-ball has hit off before walking from the Starter’s Kiosk to the tee. While members are generally familiar with the protocol, visitors could be particularly vulnerable to an errant drive.

The problem will ultimately be addressed when the new 10th tees are built and the path re-routed. In the meantime, our greenkeeper will be clearing some of the vegetation around the tee to make it easier to check the tee’s status.

He will also be erecting a sign next to the path way to alert golfers about checking the tee.

Punishing Rough

Playing conditions over the last month haven’t been easy – and they haven’t been helped by the long grass off the fairways. Rest assured this isn’t because the greenkeeping team has an twisted sense of what constitutes a “true test of golf”. Using mowers in these conditions would be detrimental to the course.
They are doing everything they can to keep the course playable!

Drainage

Again, the wet weather has curtailed our drainage plans – and the remaining work scheduled for
this year will probably have to be postponed until next year (February/March).

10th Green

In keeping with the intermediate plan to have the entire course featuring the same, bent grass
greens, the 10th will be the next green to be returfed, giving us one complete nine. This work is scheduled for December.
