Anniversary weekend is a busy one for our top golfers with the annual Akarana Anniversary Weekend tournament.  This year we have at least 8 players competing -

Eugene Smith, Allan Madigan, Mathew Weir, James Eng, Matthew Cormack, Brent Fabish, Thai Leng and James Kim.  My apologies if I have missed anyone out - play well, guys!

 

In the past few days there have been several meetings of the Pennants teams selectors and the teams for the first round of competition will be announced at the weekend in the 19th.  Rob Briscoe with his team of Rod Downs and Paul Teamoke, are quietly confident of a good season as they look to pick their playing 8 for the first match at home against Maungakiekie.  There are going to be some seriously good golfers missing out on selection for the first match - a great indicator of our strength in depth.  The team would appreciate as many of you who can make it to support the team on Sunday week.

 

As the holiday weekend is followed by Opening Day Foursomes next Saturday and then Club Champs Qualifying (Nett Medal) over the next 2 weeks, we have decided to have some fun with the scramble - it will be "Hidden Pairs".  See you all in the 19th tomorrow afternoon for the announcement of the first interclub teams in each grade - Bissett Shield, Vice Captains & Handicap.
