The quarter finals were played on Saturday and the weather improved during the morning to provide good conditions overall.  After all the rain during the week the course had recovered well with only small areas of soft ground.

Mathew Weir established an early lead against Manaaki McColl and consolidated this during the morning.  He completed a victory at the 14th green, winning 5/4.  The other match on this side of the draw was a bit closer.  Chris de Bruyn also got out to an early lead, but Andy Black kept picking away at the lead and took the match to the second to last hole before losing 3/1.

On the other side of the draw Rakesh Patel was up against a determined Jason Wei.  Rakesh's early lead was pegged back by the halfway point, but he re-established a lead early on the back nine and finished the match winning 3/2.  Rakesh will meet Andrew Meng who defeated Erik Jorgensen by a similar margin.  Andrew played very steadily getting out to a 4up lead after 9 holes, but Erik never gives in and he pegged a few holes back over the back nine before also losing 3/2.

This Saturday the semi-finals will see the following matches:
Mathew Weir vs Chris de Bruyn
Rakesh Patel vs Andrew Meng

Some more good golf is in store, let's hope the weather is kind to the players to allow them to play good golf.
