The Pennant season is now well underway for the Men - 3 rounds completed.  Our Bissett Shield, Presidents & Vice Presidents all had games at Remuera on Sunday.  The Bissett Shield defeated Maungakiekie (4.5-3.5) to remain unbeaten and just 1pt behind the leaders, Titirangi.  Wins to James Ashwin, Tomas Shaw, Rakesh Patel and James Eng plus Matthew Cormack's half were enough to get us over the line.

The Presidents team drew 4-4 with Royal Auckland/Grange and remain in mid-table.  Wins here were recorded by Manu Taylor, Jaime Lansi, Robby Turnbull and Daniel Freeman.  This is essentially a young team gaining invaluable experience at this level and performing really well.

The Vice Presidents team lost narrowly to Akarana (3.5-4.5) in their first year at this level.  Wins to Andrew Millard, Alex Bagley & Roger Hudson - with Nick Matijasevich getting the half.  They also sit in mid-table.

The Inter Club II team drew it's match against Maramarua at Maramarua - wins to Stephen Callinan, Chris Morris, Kevin Fairbrother and Alex McKay.  The Inter Club III lost to Akarana 3-5 - wins to Jason Mar, Darren Soo and Dave Evans.  Inter Club III are currently 2nd to Akarana by only 0.5pt, while Inter Club II are bottom on 8.5pts needing some good results in the final run in.

There is a week off this weekend and the teams resume play in early March.

The 2nd and final round of qualifying was played on Saturday for the Men's Match Play Championships.  The draw for the first round has been placed in our start sheet for this Saturday and also in the Locker Room.  Each division (except D Grade) has 16 qualifiers who will play through to a final on March 16th.  The D Grade has a few byes in the first round.  Congratulations to all those who qualified after a tough day in the wind last Saturday.  The leading qualifiers were - Connor Barker (Open), Peter McCormack (Intermediate), Bruce Renshaw (Junior), John Tutt (C Grade) and Michael Egan (D Grade).
