All our Men's Pennant teams have now played 3 of 6 round-robin matches in their grades.  The Bissett Shield team and Championship 1 team both lead their sections.  In the Bissett Shield the team managed to salvage a 4-4 result with some really determined play in the last 5-6 holes.  We lost the bottom 3 matches rather conclusively, and with Matthew Cormack and Daniel Freeman also well down going into the final few holes it wasn't looking too flash.  Tomas Shaw was narrowly in front for most the match but needed a birdie on the 18th to win 1up.  Matthew Cormack turned his match around and led going to the final green, only for his opponent's conceded birdie being enough to halve the match.  Then finally Daniel Freeman was 1down on the last hole and his birdie secured another half to get us a vital 4-4 result and leave us in front of our section at the half-way mark.  The 2 clear wins came from Steven Oh and James Eng.  This week at Akarana in a return match we are without Steven Oh (playing the final qualifying event for the NZ Open), and Daniel Freeman at the South Is Stroke Play.  Our strength in depth will be tested by Akarana at their course.

The Championship 1 team defeated Whitford Park 4.5-3.5 and stay unbeaten at the top of the section.  Good wins to Jaime Lansi, Karl Jorgensen, Manu Taylor, and James Kim - with Robby Turnbull's half pushing us over the line.

The Championship 2 team reversed their form with a comprehensive win over Chamberlain Park at Chamberlain by 7-1. Great to see wins to William Kelly, Michael Maingay, Daniel Mar, Andrew Millard, Finlay McKechnie, Daniel Whittaker and Brett Geyer.  This win puts them back into contention for a semi final place.

Inter Club 2 lost 2.5-5.5 at Howick and get their chance for revenge this Sunday at home.  Wins to Grant Harford & Igor Ivanov with the half from Krish Krishna.

Inter Club 3 also lost 3-5 at Pukekohe and will similarly be looking for a turn-around result.  The only winner was Andy Lemalu with 4 halves to Mike Hyams, Mike Hearn, Kailesh Patel and Eamon Wairepo.

Both Inter Club teams still have a chance to make the semi-finals but need to record some good wins at home this coming weekend.
