For those members who are unfamiliar with the format for our Ambrose, Top Cat and Greensome Foursomes competitions the following will help explain how they are run and we encourage you all to participate in these fun competitions.

Ambrose – Opening Day Monday 11th February

Ambrose is played in teams of four. Each player tees off, then the team choose the best drive. The other players pick up their balls and all players hit from the position of the best drive. Again, the best shot is selected with all players hitting from there, continuing like this until the ball is holed out. Each team member must have 2 drives selected and one player has 3. Record the name of the driver on your card to keep track of this. Because it’s a shotgun start, allow plenty of time to get to your allocated starting tee so you are ready to tee off at 9.00am. Ambrose is fun for players of all levels!

Top Cat

Mondays: 4 March, 29 April, 20 May, 16 Sep & 11 Nov.

(Played with a partner.) Best 3 scores from 5 rounds.

Stableford scores are kept for both players & the highest score is recorded as the team’s result for each hole. If one partner is unavailable on any of the competition dates, her partner plays alone and her stableford score is recorded as the team score.

There will be two entry sheets on the locker room noticeboard from Opening Day. Either sign up on the PAIRS LIST or put your name on the PARTNERS WANTED list. Entries close midday Monday 25th February.

Greensome Foursomes – Monday 11th March

(Played with a partner.) In Greensomes both players tee off and then choose which ball to play from there. The player whose drive or tee shot is not chosen plays the second shot, and they then play alternate shots from there until the ball is holed out. On the next hole, both players again tee off and the process is repeated.

There will be an entry sheet on the locker room noticeboard from Opening Day. Entries close midday Monday 4th March. Either sign up as a pair, or singles will be matched up with other singles.

Finally, just a gentle reminder to you all to be on the first/tenth tee ten minutes before your tee time.

Good golfing girls!
