The Waiatarua Trophy was decided in very windy conditions on Saturday afternoon.  Despite that scoring was generally better than the previous week.  The overnight leaders were Peter Lake & Keith Aitchison (70pts), but the field was tightly bunched behind them.

 

Wayne Scholtz and John Childerhouse came from 4pts back with 2 very good rounds for a total of 74pts to pip Ian Braddock & Murray Hieatt on a countback.  Both teams finished on 140pts with Wayne & John's combined better round in the final round tipping the countback their way.

 

Peter & Keith finished 2pts back in 3rd.  The other winners on the day were Dene McKay & Brooke Hibberdine (69pts) for the best score in Round 1; and Ronnie Tan & Mark Boucher (72pts) best score in Round 2.  Teams in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd overall were not eligible for the individual round prizes. 

 

The next event is the Remuera Plate on August 15th & 22nd.  This is a 4-player teams event with the best 3 stableford scores counting on each hole.  The entry sheet is in the entrance to the golf shop and the draw will be posted on the internet on Friday afternoon.
