As we get near the end of the year a lot of events are reaching the final stages.  On Saturday all divisions, except the Open Grade, had their final round in the Stroke Play Championships.  The biggest winning margin went to Mike Hyams in the D Grade - by 15 shots over John Childerhouse.  John was 2 shots clear of Robin Bone in 3rd place.  Mike was the only player to shoot 3 rounds in the 90s in this grade and thoroughly deserved his win.

In the C Grade Ken Taylor (President) maintained his lead in the final round over Tony Verner.  Ken finished on 283, 3 clear of Tony with Brett Morpeth 2 shots further back in 3rd.  A point that did not escape notice was that Mike Hyams would have won this grade by 5 shots had he been eligible!

The Junior and Intermediate Grades were much closer.  Chris Reid held the 2 round lead in the Juniors but stumbled on Saturday to let Grant Marshall overtake him.  Grant won by 1 shot from Mike Hearn and will represent Remuera at the Champion of Champions event in the next few weeks.  Grant finished on 264, Mike on 265 and John Philpott on 266.  The closest division by far!

The Intermediate division saw Robert Hill reel in Oliver Foote's 3 shot lead and take the title by 3 shots.  Robert shot 86, 77 & 85 (248) to beat Oliver Foote (251) with Mike Maingay and Jason Mar back on 254.  Robert will also represent the club at the Champion of Champions.

Grant and Robert will be joined by our Open Grade winner which will be decided on Sunday.  Matthew Cormack currently leads the Open Grade by 4 shots.  Matthew's 70 & 75 leads Connor Barker (78 & 71) by 4 shots.  Kahu Tataurangi (152) will join them in the final group on Sunday afternoon.  They are followed by Robby Turnbull (153), with James Kim and Daniel Freeman (156) in the chasing group.
