In windy but dry conditions the final round of the Open Grade Stroke Play Championships was played out on Sunday.  Matthew Cormack started the day with a 4-shot lead over Connor Barker.  Kahu Tataurangi was a further 3-shots back in 3rd.

They all birdied the first hole and pars on the next 2 holes saw Matthew retaining his lead over the other 2.  After the front 9 Matthew had stretched his lead over Connor to 10 shots, and Kahu had moved into second but was 8 shots behind.  The back nine was much closer but Matthew had done the damage.  He finished up winning by 9 shots with Kahu in second and Connor 3 more shots back in 3rd.

Matthew joins Robert Hill (Intermediate Champion) and Grant Marshall (Junior Champion) at the Auckland Champion of Champions at Howick Golf Club on Sunday December 6th.  It was also great to see some of our next group of juniors competing well:
Daniel Freeman (4th), Robby Turnbull (5th), Max Clarke (15th), William Kelly (18th), and Ishaan Shah (21st).
