The Booth Cup Final was played over 36 holes (net medal) on Saturday.  Only 12 players qualify each year for this final - 4 gross winners from the qualifying rounds, and 8 net qualifiers for those same rounds.  All qualifiers are to be congratulated as this is one of the most prestigious trophies in the club:
Gross Qualifiers - Rakesh Patel, Tomas Shaw, James Kim and Matthew Cormack
Net Qualifiers - Thai Leng, Richard Lane, John Johnson, Derek Finnigan, Dennis Swan, Igor Ivanov, Alex Ivanov and Glen Larsen.

The course was in superb condition for the final with the greens hard and fast - above the hole was going to be difficult!  The morning round saw James Kim (75) hold a very narrow lead over Rakesh Patel (76), Dennis Swan (77) and Tomas Shaw (78).

The best afternoon round came from John Johnson (67).  Noted that he had a net 85 in the morning, followed by a gross 82 in the afternoon - clearly not a morning player!  This catapulted him into the runner-up position, but he was 2 shots behind our 2020 winner, Tomas Shaw.  Tomas shot a net 72 in the afternoon to finish on 150.

The top 6 places were:
Tomas Shaw - 150 (78 & 72)
John Johnson  - 152 (85 & 67)
Rakesh Patel - 152 (76 & 76)
Derek Finnigan - 153 (82 & 71)
Dennis Swan - 153 (77 & 76)
James Kim - 153 (75 & 78).

Congratulations, Tomas.  We were delighted to welcome Barry Ambridge to the afternoon presentation.  Barry won the Booth Cup in 1970 - 50 years ago!  Barry told the members of the background to the Booth Cup - purchased by Stewart Booth in England and donated to the club.  It had originally been made for Queen Victoria.  Great to see you back at the club, Barry.
