On Monday last we ran a Masters Monday Ambrose to coincide with the final round of the Masters at Augusta in Georgia.  About 30 members gathered at the club from 7.30am for a breakfast to watch the final round.  While the re-scheduling of the final round meant that it finished earlier than anticipated it has proved popular and will be repeated in April when we hope the 2021 event will be held.

 

The Ambrose teams were all drawn out of the hat, but despite the random nature of the draw there was one very clear winning team - John Hill, Nick Ewart, Tomas Shaw (greenkeeper) and Conal Cooke (golf shop guru).  This team hit the magic number - 59 gross!  With their team handicap of 4.5 their net score of 54.5 saw them win the inaugural event by over 5 shots.  They had 14 birdies!!  Clearly Nick and John carried their teammates to victory!

 

We also ran a "sweepstake" on the Masters.  Members were allowed to pick 2 players.  It was won by Robert Bode who picked Dustin Johnson (1st) and Justin Thomas (4th) for a total of 5pts.  Close behind were Chris Thompson & Alex Smith who both picked Dustin Johnson/Rory McIlroy - 6pts; Ken Taylor, John Rainger & Ron Reed who all picked Jon Rahm/Dustin Johnson; & James Eng who picked Dustin Johnson/Brooks Koepka - 8pts.
